VAPORETTO

VAPORETTO (public transportation boats) / VENICE — one can buy the ACTV (Venice’s public transportation) tickets at the ticket booths at the docks or the VE.LA. ticket offices. Tickets can also be purchasedfrom one of the many authorized sellers (tobacconists, newspaper stores and some cafés). Note: your ticket must be stamped in the yellow machine before getting on the Vaporetto. Tickets are not sold on board the boats.

At the boat stop, there are maps showing each boat’s water route. The Vaporetto is an easy way to see all the sights and buildings that overlook the Grand Canal and the lagoon. The Travel Cards are the most economical way for people to get around Venice and its surroundings on ACTV’s land and water services. They allow unlimited travel and can be used on all the services – both waterborne (except those of route 3, Alilaguna, Clodia, Fusina) and on land – that provide urban services within the municipality (“Comune”) of Venice (land services on the Lido and in Mestre).

Validity can be 12, 24, 36 48 or 72 hours after a ticket is stamped, depending on the chosen tariff solution. Covered with the cost of the ticket is the transport of one luggage item (of up to 150 cm or the sum of its three dimensions). Bus (Palermo)

Bus (Palermo) – local bus rides in Palermo costs €1.30 (on the AMAT municipal bus system). Tickets are sold at AMAT kiosks and at most tabacchi (tobacco shops) and newsagents (tickets expire after 90 minutes). Upon boarding AMAT’s orange buses, insert the ticket in the validating machine, or — if that’s not possible — on the top part of your ticket write the date and start time of your journey (month/day/year and time, using a 24 hr. clock).

For those planning on using the bus extensively during the day, a good option is to purchase a 24-hour ticket (3.50€), which expires at midnight of the day you use it. If you are not traveling beyond the city center, you can use one of the three convenient circular bus lines (Linea Rossa, Linea Gialla, Linea Verde) at a fraction of the cost of a regular bus ticket (.52€, valid all day).
